How often you should have your car detailed depends on how you drive, where you live, how you store your car and which treatment you need. What is certain: most people wait too long.
Recommended frequency per treatment
- Washing: every 2–4 weeks
- Interior cleaning: 2–3 times per year
- Paint correction (polishing): 1–2 times per year maximum
- Wax: every 2–3 months
- Sealant: 2–3 times per year
- Ceramic coating: once every 2–5 years
Seasonal guidance
Spring — Remove road salt from winter. A full decontamination plus wax or sealant is the ideal spring programme.
Summer — UV radiation damages paint and plastics. Ensure your protection is in place before summer.
Autumn — Leaf residue and acidic precipitation are aggressive on paint. Interior clean plus exterior treatment before winter.
Winter — Frequent washing minimum to remove salt. Avoid automatic car washes — the brushes are especially damaging on cold paint.
